Pre-Wedding Styling
What to Wear for Your Pre-Wedding Photoshoot
Choose clothes for movement, location and light first. Matching Instagram references comes later.
1. Complement; do not copy-paste each other
Colours can relate without being identical. One partner can carry the stronger colour while the other stays quieter, especially in a green or heritage location.
2. Dress for the actual location
Flowing fabrics can work beautifully in open landscapes, but not if the terrain is rough or muddy. Formal clothing can suit architecture; comfortable layers work better for longer hill-station sessions.
3. Movement matters
If you cannot walk, sit or turn comfortably, the discomfort will show. Test the outfit before the shoot rather than discovering a restrictive fit on location.
4. Two useful looks beat five rushed changes
Every costume change costs light and travel time. For most half-day sessions, a casual/natural look plus one more formal/traditional look creates enough variety.
5. Avoid large logos and very busy patterns
The couple should remain the visual centre of the frame. Strong branded text and dense patterns date photographs quickly.
6. Plan footwear and backup clothes
Outdoor locations can be wet, dusty or uneven. Carry practical footwear for walking and change into the final pair only when needed.
